CODE OF BUSHIDO
It is a time of change, and on the surface, a time of peace.
Iuchiban the Heartless is no more. His Bloodspeakers have been hunted ruthlessly, rooted out of almost oall of their hidden strongholds. Though a handful have fled to Daigotsu's banner or the City of Blood, their once gleaming culture seems to be all but destroyed. The last mad attacks of trhe Bloodspeakers wreaked untold damage throughout the Empire, reducing villages to ruins and turning allies against one another. Along with the Keepers of the Elements, the descendant of Shinsei has done all he can to provide counsel in this difficult time. Rosoku knows the risk he takes in remaining in the public eye is great, but he cannot deny the people's deep desire for guidance.
Yet this time of peace is only a mask for a larger conflict. Having gained some measure of respect and support during the Blood Hunt, the mighty Shogun now seeks to turn the power and influence of the Gozoku to his own ends. No more shall they usurp his brother's throne. But while the Shogun may be an honorable man, he is also an abitious one. Does he truly root out the Gozoku for the Emperor's glory, or for his own? The Emperor, meanwhile, does not stand idle. He has gathered his allies, both seen and unseen. Untrusting of the Shogun's actions, he prepares to maintain his power with all the tenacity of a true son of Toturi. Sezaru, the Wolf, stands between these two brothers, hoping to maintain peace even as the scars from his battle with Iuchiban threaten to overwhelm his sanity. When two men in conflict both seem honorable, both embrace the Code of Bushido, whom does the Empire follow?
Even as this question arises, a terrible catastrophe shakes the already wounded Empire. Seeking vengeance for Iuchiban's death, a desparate Bloodspeaker makes a dring strike into the heart of the Imperial City.
Rosoku has been murdered.
